THE HISTORY OF THE FIRST PENTECOSTAL CHURCH OF MCLAIN:

A vision and a burden for The first Pentecostal Church of McLain was first born in the heart of Sis. Roberta Goff after receiving the Holy Ghost in  1932 at a campmeeting in Laurel  Ms.In the forties or early fifties Sis. Goff started having regular prayer meetings  in her home, which resulted, in many receiving the Holy Ghost. They all continued ( Praying Powerful Prayers ) in one mind and one accord having a vision of some greater work in store from the Lord. And on July 17, 1952 their prayers was  answered ; The First Pentecostal Church was reorganized by Brother Dennis Beech. Sister Goff alone with charter members: Bell Sylvester, Jewel McLain, Roberta Clark, Sircie Clark, Melrow O'Neal worked very diligently baking and selling pies to raise money for the materials to build a building to worship in.

In Oct. 1952 The Mississippi District allowed the Church  to make a lone for $500.00  to help with the construction of a building. The money that was raised by selling pies and the lone that the Mississippi District gave, helped in the of building of a santurary to worship in. Sis. Goff  gave the church permission to use a portion of her property to build the new santurary on. Now the old building has been used for other church functions . But the community will always remember the revivals and other great moves of the Holy ghost that flowed out of its front doors .                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Through the years the Church has had many Pastors, and In 1973 the Lord sent Elder Marshall Mcleod to Pastor the Church. In 1976  a great revival broke out. The Church started growing . Soon they  found themselves needing a larger building . It was in the same year the Lord opened the door to purchase the land across the street and The Church Built A bigger building to worship in.  Now we also have a bigger and better felloweship hall plus Sunday School rooms for our children. This has been built along with the new facelift of the main santurary  in the past few years.

God has blessed our prayers and our tears for the lost and the backslidden, and In the years ahead, the Lord always  made a way and supplied the Church with Pastor's who had a vision for the church . We have kept the fires burning, and many lives have changed and have been brought into this wonderful truth.

Thank God He saved the best for last when he sent Elder R. T. Strain in Nov. 1999. He ia a Man with a vision , a burden for the lost ,and a desire to impact the Town and make a difference in the community. Through his leadership and steadfastness he has brought  to us a new desire that we follow Christ and have a meaning in life. To be ready when The lord calls us home.

We also want to thank our God for continuing to pour out his spirit upon the Church. God is still adding to the  Church as the Holy Ghost moves in these last days. Jesus said," Upon this Rock I Will Build My Church".   Thank God For The  Truth , and the revelation of his Name. The Bible said and He ( JESUS ) breathed on them. We thank God For his Breath  of refreshing and giving us a fresh understanding of good things to come. No matter what we see or hear around us we will continue to march forward proclaiiming the word of truth.
